China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (Sinotruk), formerly known as Jinan Automobile Manufacturing General Factory, was founded in 1930 and is the cradle of China’s heavy-duty vehicle industry. In 1960, it produced China’s first heavy-duty truck, the Yellow River JN150, marking the country’s entry into heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing. Over the decades, under the care of national leaders including Mao Zedong, Zhu De, and Deng Xiaoping, Sinotruk achieved milestones such as introducing the Austrian Steyr project in 1983, launching the HOWO brand in 2004, and releasing the SITRAK series in 2013. In 2020, it globally launched a new generation of high-end Yellow River trucks. Sinotruk develops and produces heavy-duty vehicles, special-purpose vehicles, engines, transmissions, axles, and components, with brands including Yellow River, SITRAK, and HOWO. It operates three listed companies and exports products to over 110 countries, accounting for half of China’s heavy truck exports.
With the vision of building a world-class full-series commercial vehicle group, Sinotruk has advanced independent innovation, R&D, and brand building, owning top-level technology centers and testing facilities. It has filled multiple technological gaps in China’s heavy-duty vehicle industry and won national honors such as “China’s Outstanding Innovative Enterprise.” Since 2018, under new leadership, it has implemented bold reforms, achieved high-quality growth, and set export records. In 2022, despite an industry downturn, Sinotruk sold 249,000 vehicles, including 89,000 exports, and reached 121.4 billion yuan in revenue, ranking 158th among China’s Top 500 Enterprises, 69th in manufacturing, and 60th among the Top 100 Most Valuable Brands of China.
